Sullivan Statement on Vote Against Anti-Israel Legislation
WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), released the following statement after three separate anti-Israel pieces of legislation failed to advance in the Senate this evening. The resolutions of disapproval, if passed, would have forced the Department of Defense (DOD) to halt a series of arms and munitions sales to Israel. Senators voted overwhelmingly against discharging the resolutions, introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
“As Israel fights for its very right to exist, some Senate Democrats are giving credence to dangerous anti-Semitism,” Senator Sullivan said. “Rest assured, when Senate Republicans assume the majority in January, we will make clear to our friends and foes around the world that the United States once again stands proudly with Israel—our greatest ally in the Middle East—and against the Iranian terrorist regime and its terrorist proxies.”
