Sullivan Statement on NTSB Preliminary Report on Bering Air Crash
JUNEAU, ALASKA—U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), a member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, released the following statement regarding the release of a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on the Bering Air crash in February that took the lives of 10 Alaskans:
“I was recently briefed by the NTSB Chairwoman, Jennifer Homendy, on the findings of this preliminary report and it’s important to emphasize that it’s still preliminary. The chairwoman and the acting FAA administrator will be testifying next week in front of the Senate Commerce Committee, and I will continue my focus on Alaska aviation safety at that hearing. Once again, our hearts go out to the families and friends of those lost during this tragic accident.”
In February 2025, Senator Sullivan held a press conference following the crash with Senator Lisa Murkowski and Representative Nick Begich (both R-Alaska), U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, and National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy regarding their shared focus on enhancing aviation safety in Alaska. In May 2024, the FAA Reauthorization was signed into law which included several Sullivan-authored provisions specifically for Alaska.
